A Summer in Bath

This book is also about 125,000 words–but nearly a fifth of that is made up of extracts from various writings from the period, all freely available online. It is my hope that if any of my readers are as fascinated by history and literature as I am, that these (mostly obscure and forgotten) texts will inspire them to go fossicking among l’embarras des richesses that is Google Books, The Internet Archive, Project Gutenberg etc.

While characters from the previous books in The Merriweather Chronicles appear in this one, they do so only sporadically, and may or may not be immediately recognizable since they are “seen”, as it were, through the eyes of the very young heroine, Sibyl Ferris.
